Tactical Scholar™ Anti-Ballistic Panel

The Tactical Scholar™ is a beautiful portable anti-ballistic panel which provides 24 square feet of ballistic resistant protection to aid in an active shooter situation. This is an affordable unit designed for schools, banks, federal buildings, courts, recruiting centers, businesses, airports, anywhere that draws a potential shooting threat.

Executive Wood Products has been manufacturing ballistic resistant products since 2006. We design our anti-ballistic products to be multi-functional so that they appear as normal office furniture. This design feature gives our customers an advantage to help save lives. Our panels are more effective because the shooting threat will not account for their anti-ballistic capability.

The Tactical Scholar™ is 75"h x 48"w x 3.25"d. (Feet with rolling casters increase depth to 32"). Inside each panel is ballistic resistant steel, which is certified under the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) at a rating level of III. This NIJ Level III rated material is designed to stop multiple shots from a 7.62mm (.308) sniper rifle or smaller, stopping an arsenal of weaponry. NIJ Level III is the same requirement often requested by the United States Military.

We frame the NIJ Level III rated material in a fully welded steel frame for rigidity and support. We then completely conceal the ballistic rated material. On one side is an acoustical tackable fabric covered panel. The other side is a whiteboard with marker rail which may be used for notifications, classroom work, daily specials, you name it.

The acoustical panel is designed to absorb sound and is completely moisture and mildew resistant. We utilize high quality fabric rated at 250,000 double rubs under the Wyzenbeek Test Method, which is much greater than the standard fabric used by the competition. The combination of these two materials provide for an incredible acoustical tackable core that is self healing, which means that when you push a pin or tack into place, once it is removed, the hole will disappear.

The entire structure is capped in a beautiful solid hardwood. The sample shown is painted. We paint the solid maple hardwood in an automotive type paint and spray application to provide a beautiful and smooth finish. Stainable hardwoods available are cherry, maple, and oak (walnut and mahogany are also available for a upcharge). These stainable versions will be hand rubbed stain with a state-of-the-art spray finish applied to really bring out the beauty of the wood.

Finally, the entire structure is supported by four heavy duty swivel locking casters that are overrated for the total weight of the product. This allows the unit to be easily maneuvered and then locked into place where desired. The lock prevents the wheel from turning and also locks the swivel from rotating. This keeps the unit completely stable when locked.

Beyond the daily use of this product as an acoustical tackable panel and whiteboard, keep in mind that during an active shooting threat, the portability of these units will allow you to move towards or away from a threat as necessary. They may be locked in front of doors to hinder access to a room or hallway. They may also be butted together or overlapped to create a wall of protection.
